SeeMeYah Media › Industry Reports

Real numbers on the UK Black hair industry.

Built from our own directories, not guesswork.

Anyone can run an interview. Only SeeMeYah can publish what people are actually searching for on Braiders.co.uk and Loctician.co.uk. These reports turn that into figures the industry can use: what services really cost, where demand is going, and which styles are rising. Each one shows when the data was collected and how, uses medians and ranges instead of one misleading average, and keeps search and client data anonymised.

The research

Four reports, published on a schedule.

We're building these out with our first data. The formats below are what's coming, and where sponsorship can sit once the audience is there.

Pricing

UK Price Check

Typical advertised prices for the services people ask about most, so professionals can price with confidence and clients know what's fair.

  • Knotless and box braids, cornrows
  • Starter locs, retwists, interlocking, microlocs
  • Loc repair and wig installation
  • Broken down by service, region and salon or mobile

Recurring · medians and ranges, dated

First up

The UK Black Hair Business Pulse: Spring/Summer 2026.

Our first flagship report brings together survey findings from professionals across the UK: booking conditions, pricing confidence, the services in most demand and the challenges people are facing right now. It'll be free in exchange for an email address, so we can send you the next one too.

Want to be counted in it? Take part when we open the survey by joining the list below, and we'll send you the questions.

How we handle the data

A report is only worth as much as its honesty.

Price figures come from publicly advertised prices, with the source and collection date recorded. Search and demand figures are anonymised, with no individual business or client identifiable. When we name a business or quote its prices, it gets a right of reply before we publish. We report medians and ranges, not a single average that hides the real spread.

For brands: report sponsorship

A brand can back a named report and get visibility around it, clearly labelled, with no say over the findings. That line doesn't move. Ask about sponsorship through the Media page when the reports are running.
